What is Scalp Acupuncture

Chinese scalp acupuncture is a specialized form of acupuncture that involves inserting thin needles into specific areas on the scalp. This technique is used to stimulate the brain and nervous system, aiming to treat neurological and psychological conditions such as stroke recovery, paralysis, and migraines.

The scalp is divided into zones that correspond to different parts of the body and brain functions. By targeting these zones, scalp acupuncture can help improve motor functions, sensory issues, and cognitive impairments. It is a minimally invasive treatment that offers a complementary approach to traditional medical therapies.

  • Speech Improvement. By targeting specific scalp acupuncture points for speech, it helps in recovering and improving speech functions in individuals affected by neurological impairments.
  • Pain Relief. Provides significant relief from chronic pain conditions, including headaches and migraines.
  • Cognitive Improvement. Can improve cognitive functions, memory, and concentration by stimulating brain activity.
  • Mental Health Support. Assists in alleviating anxiety, depression, and other psychological issues.

What to Expect From Scalp Acupuncture?

scalp acupuncture near me

Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of a typical scalp acupuncture session:

  • Initial Consultation. The session begins with a discussion about your medical history, current symptoms, and treatment goals with your practitioner at the acupuncture clinic.
  • Preparation. You will be asked to sit or lie down comfortably. The practitioner will clean the areas on your scalp where the needles will be inserted.
  • Needle Insertion. Thin needles are gently inserted into specific scalp acupuncture points. These points are chosen based on the condition being treated, such as motor or sensory impairments.
  • Needle Manipulation. The needles may be gently manipulated or connected to electroacupuncture devices for more stimulation.
  • Relaxation. The needles are typically left in place for 20-40 minutes while you relax. During this time, the practitioner may monitor your response to the treatment.
  • Needle Removal. The needles are carefully removed, and you may receive a brief massage or further instructions for aftercare.

My husband had chronic shoulder pain and lower back pain for a long time. After 3 sessions with Kyle Wooten he is experiencing a lot less pain, it’s not completely gone yet but definitely improved! I had one session so far for my knee and I am feeling relief already. He is knowledgeable and easy to talk with. I highly recommend him.

Great experiences! Very friendly, professional, patient and informative (I had lots of questions and so did my daughters). Felt immediate results and pain relief from my overworked, compressed wrists/hands. A couple months back I had kidney pains, went to visit my medical doctor, and had tests ran. They came back with “nothing in the results; everything’s fine”. My first visit at Kuna Wellness- he immediately pointed out my kidney meridian having issues (I didn’t mention them at all)! I felt he listened, addressed my areas of concern (and then some), and he gave great self-care tips and exercises!

My wife had a sudden impairment of speech, stuttering and almost slurring. As well as twitching and shakeness of limbs and we received no information from the hospital about why or what to do. Our cherished friends invited her for a last minute session for deep precisionmassage, acupuncture and cupping after going over her symptoms the night before. After the session she was close to normal in speech and body control! She will undoubtedly get some much needed rest. Kyle is absolutely amazing. I would recommend a visit for anyone looking to improve their overall well-being!

I have suffered from neck pain and immobility for quite some time. I have tried chiropractic in the past with not much relief. I’m glad I gave acupuncture a try. Kyle is very knowledgeable and spent time asking questions to determine the best treatment for my issues. With massage/acupuncture sessions, combined with at home exercise , I am seeing relief from my neck issues. I’m very pleased to find such an amazing acupuncturist as Kyle in our small town of Kuna!
