Acupuncture for Allergies

Acupuncture for Allergies in Kuna, ID

Allergies happen when your immune system reacts to something that’s usually harmless, like pollen, pet dander, or certain foods. Your body sees these things as threats and responds by causing symptoms like sneezing, itching, or even more serious reactions. Allergies can be mild or severe, but they can be managed with the right approach.

Types Of Allergies

acupuncture for allergies

There are several types of allergies that people most commonly experience:

  • Seasonal Allergies. These are triggered by pollen from trees, grass, and weeds, often causing sneezing and itchy eyes.
  • Food Allergies. Common foods like nuts, shellfish, and dairy can cause reactions ranging from mild itching to severe anaphylaxis.
  • Pet Allergies. Dander from pets like cats and dogs can lead to symptoms like sneezing, coughing, and watery eyes.
  • Dust Allergies. Dust mites in your home can cause similar symptoms to pet allergies.
  • Insect Sting Allergies. Some people are allergic to bee or wasp stings, which can cause swelling, hives, or even more serious reactions.
  • Food Allergies. Allergic reactions to certain foods or ingredients, like peanuts or fish.
  • Drug Allergies. Allergic reactions occur when your body reacts to certain ingredients in medications.

Understanding these types of allergies can help you manage symptoms more effectively.

What Causes Allergies

Allergies are caused when your immune system mistakes a harmless substance for something dangerous and starts to “fight” it. This substance, known as an allergen, can be anything from pollen to pet dander or certain foods. When your body encounters an allergen, it reacts by producing antibodies, which trigger the release of chemicals like histamine.

This causes the symptoms we associate with allergies, such as sneezing, itching, or swelling. The exact reason why some people develop allergies and others don’t isn’t fully understood, but genetics and environmental factors both play a role.

What Are Allergies Symptoms?

acupuncture for skin allergies

Here are some common allergy symptoms:

  • Sneezing. A frequent reaction when your body tries to expel allergens from your nose.
  • Runny or Stuffy Nose. Allergens can cause your nasal passages to become inflamed, leading to congestion or a runny nose.
  • Itchy or Watery Eyes. Allergens like pollen or pet dander can irritate your eyes, causing itching and watering.
  • Coughing. Allergies can cause a dry cough, especially if you’re breathing in allergens like dust or pollen.
  • Skin Rashes or Hives. Some allergies can cause red, itchy patches on your skin.
  • Swelling. In more severe cases, areas like the face, lips, or throat can swell up.

Recognizing these symptoms can help you identify and manage your allergies better.

Great experiences! Very friendly, professional, patient and informative (I had lots of questions and so did my daughters). Felt immediate results and pain relief from my overworked, compressed wrists/hands. A couple months back I had kidney pains, went to visit my medical doctor, and had tests ran. They came back with “nothing in the results; everything’s fine”. My first visit at Kuna Wellness- he immediately pointed out my kidney meridian having issues (I didn’t mention them at all)! I felt he listened, addressed my areas of concern (and then some), and he gave great self-care tips and exercises!

My wife had a sudden impairment of speech, stuttering and almost slurring. As well as twitching and shakeness of limbs and we received no information from the hospital about why or what to do. Our cherished friends invited her for a last minute session for deep precisionmassage, acupuncture and cupping after going over her symptoms the night before. After the session she was close to normal in speech and body control! She will undoubtedly get some much needed rest. Kyle is absolutely amazing. I would recommend a visit for anyone looking to improve their overall well-being!

I have suffered from neck pain and immobility for quite some time. I have tried chiropractic in the past with not much relief. I’m glad I gave acupuncture a try. Kyle is very knowledgeable and spent time asking questions to determine the best treatment for my issues. With massage/acupuncture sessions, combined with at home exercise , I am seeing relief from my neck issues. I’m very pleased to find such an amazing acupuncturist as Kyle in our small town of Kuna!

FAQs About Acupuncture for Allergies

Acupuncture helps manage allergies by promoting the body’s natural healing processes. It works to balance energy, reduce inflammation, and strengthen the immune system, which can help alleviate allergy symptoms.

Acupuncture needles are strategically placed at specific points on the body, often on the face, hands, and feet. These points are chosen to target and relieve allergy symptoms effectively.

The number of sessions needed can vary based on individual factors, but many people begin to notice improvements after a series of treatments. Consistent sessions are often key to achieving more lasting results.

The frequency of acupuncture sessions for allergies usually starts at once or twice a week. This allows the body to respond effectively, and the schedule may be adjusted based on your progress and specific needs.
